Manager - Technical documentation (Old Montreal)

As a member of the Product Development team, the Technical Documentation Manager will oversee and participate in the creation, review, and maintenance of product documentation, in English and in French, for Purkinje's various product lines. Product documentation includes user guides, contextual help material, product bulletins, and release notes. To that end, the Technical Documentation Manager will oversee a small group of 3 to 5 internal and external technical writers. This position is located at Purkinje's Montreal office.
Primary Responsibilities
• Manage a small team of internal and external writers; assist with hiring as needed
• Create and maintain documentation standards, guidelines, and templates
• Drive the selection, deployment, and evolution of authoring tools and processes
• Review product documentation to ensure that standards are met
• Participate in product specification reviews with the product team
• Act as chief librarian for the department: manage the department's product document repository, and ensure that standards for document naming and organization are followed
• Create and manage processes for the department's knowledge base
• Manage the document translation process (English-French)
• Create technical documents as part of the technical documentation team.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
• At least 7 years of experience in technical writing in the software domain
• At least 2 years of experience in managing technical writing projects
• Experience in managing the translation of documents into different languages
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Visio, and PDF generation tools
• Expertise in at least one single-source authoring tool such as RoboHelp
• Familiar with the software development process and with use cases
• Familiar with managing document repositories such as SharePoint
• Excellent language skills, in both French and English
• Quick learner, self-directed, and detail-oriented.

• Experience in the medical domain
• Experience in creating and managing Sharepoint repositories
• Experience with RoboHelp
• Knowledge of HTML editing tools
• Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation System.
