Overview of Responsibilities
•Under the direction of the Dispatch Supervisor, assists in achieving the objectives of the P&D operation (% on-time delivery).
•Brings to the attention of the associate dispatchers any discrepancies negatively impacting the P&D operation.
•Brings to the attention of the Driver Supervisor any driver problems negatively impacting the P&D operation.
•Ensures drivers are aware of all/any delivery requirements, appointments, etc.
•Assists/advises drivers as needed to achieve their objectives.
•Prioritize and assign deliveries to drivers to ensure maximum efficiency.
•Ensure that all drivers are checked-in/out in an efficient and timely manner.
•Perform other tasks as may be assigned periodically.
Requirements or Qualifications
•Minimum 5 years previous dispatching experience in the Courier/TL/LTL environment an asset
•Strong knowledge of the Greater Montreal, north and South shore as well as the Quebec City area Ability to accurately read and decipher Bills of Lading.
•Superior telephone manner, and the ability to provide optimum customer service, Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•Proficient with computer programs -- Maddocks - TruckMate Dispatch System (an asset), Word and Excel.
•Must be able to exercise initiative, multi-task and work well as part of a team in a high stress environment; punctual and dependable
•Familiarity with office procedures (manual & computer)
•Familiarity with all P&D routes and any problem areas.
•To be able to work on the night shift.
•Bilingual, English/French
