From its 60,000 sq ft facility, located in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, PTI supplies the Canadian market for copper power building wire. PTI operates copper rod break down machines, intermediate wire drawing machines, as well as insulation and jacketing extrusions in PVC, Polyethylene and Polypropylene.
Job Description
PTI Cables is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to assist in maintaining a fast paced manufacturing facility. Working under the Maintenance Manager, the individual will be working on installing and maintaining equipment in a production enviroment.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide maintenance to electro-mechanical machines, and process rotating equipment
· Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform the repair in a timely manner
· Identify problematic issues, suggest corrective action, modify machinery where possible to minimize breakdowns and production downtime
· Maintain timely, accurate records of work performed per repair
· Source parts and purchase according to company purchasing policies
· Maintain work and shop area in a neat and clean manner
· Provide backup during absence of other maintenance team members
· Wear and maintain any personal protective equipment required and follow all health & safety procedures
· Performs other related duties of comparable complexity as directed.
Required Skills
· A good working knowledge of English (speaking & comprehension) is required
· Strong electrical and mechanical background with knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, drives systems, automatic and PLC controls.
· Experience with machine installation and commissioning an asset
· Good knowledge of related Health and Safety legislation and Industrial Regulations
· Physical demand - ability to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds is required
· May be required to work 12 hour continental night shifts or On-call or able to work overtime when required.
You may have gained experience working on personal equipment such as farm equipment or you may have professional experience. The preferred candidate must exhibit a personal sense of responsibility and accountability. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, detailed oriented person with excellent problem solving skills.
