Senior Software & Database Developer
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Application Development, the Senior Software & Database Developer is responsible for ensuring that the company software components are expertly designed, tested, debugged, verified, and deployed.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Software & Database Developer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Responsible for the analysis of current programs including performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of problem programs, and designing solutions to problematic programming.
• Responsible for developing new programs and proofing the program to develop needed changes to assure production of a quality product.
• Tests new programs to ensure that logic and syntax are correct, and that program results are accurate; assists lower-level programmers with programming assignments.
• Documents code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description of the program, special instructions, and any changes made in database tables on procedural, modular and database level.
• Reviews changes in code and the environment that will affect system performance.
• Provides assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems.
• Provides oversight of development staff with regards to data warehouse creation and modifications.
• Maintains logical and physical models of all databases using the selected tools for entity relationship diagrams.
• Provides insight for data mapping between systems.
• Develops and follows standards and guidelines.
• Responsible for the logical and physical design of the database including internal controls and referential integrity.
• Designs and develops scripts to modify database schema and data conversions as dictated by the project.
• Responsible for the development and review of ETL processes to ensure accurate and timely data in the data warehouse.
• Implements and changes control of database objects including tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures.
• Identifies opportunities for reuse of database objects already implemented.
• Participates in the implementations of new subject areas in the data warehouse.
Key Qualifications:
This opportunity is suitable for an individual who possesses the following experience and attributes:
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering required.
• Master Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is considered an asset.
• 8 to 10 years of experience in an Agile development environment.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in relational database design and modeling is required.
• In depth knowledge of the Microsoft Products (.Net, MSSQL, etc). ASP.Net is considered an asset.
• Expert in C# required.
• Experience in SaaS system development is required.
• Possess advanced technical skills required.
• Expert knowledge of data structures required.
• Expert knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems required.
• Experience with ETL tools required.
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services required.
• SQL Server Analysis Services experience is an considered an asset.
• Experience with CRM/ERP systems is considered an asset.
• Possesses excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication.
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to "think outside the box".
