Role Description:
The team at Lionbridge Technologies is seeking part-time freelance workers to join its team of Search Editors. With this opportunity you may work from your home office environment. The Editor works independently and focuses on his/her local market only. Occasionally multi-lingual Editors will work in more than one target market. Broad target market knowledge, attention to detail, follow-through, self-motivation and good judgment are all required to be successful in this position.
Typically tasks vary, however some more common tasks include:
- Developing, editing and publishing lists of web search terms related to popular current news items
- Correlating information from various sources into a rational format
- Collecting, organizing, interpreting, and classifying market-specific information
- Hours of work are up to 20 hours per week, however due to the fluctuating nature of the project these hours cannot be guaranteed.
- $16.86 USD per hour
Key Skills:
- Fluency in both verbal and written English and French
- Ability to understand comprehensive guidelines and apply them to your task
- Ability to collect, organize, interpret, and classify market-specific information and content
- Ability to build hierarchies, indexes, and mappings of market-specific information and content
- Experienced internet user in the following areas:
o Excellent web research skills
o Web content awareness in your local market (e.g. Major news, entertainment, technology, portals, search engines, shopping, influential figures, etc)
o Ability to use appropriate keywords to return desired results when web searching
- Comprehending diverse ranges of material and applying these to ensure content is accurate and relevant to the market
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and excellent communication are essential
- Ability to work independently and flexibly to new techniques/processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Skills:
- Background or experience in taxonomy building, information architecture, library science or similar field preferred
- Writing and/or Editorial experience preferred
- XML Experience an advantage
Requirements:
B. Sc. / B. A. / Dip. or equivalent international qualification, and/or equivalent relevant work experience
Access to a Windows PC with high-speed internet connection and Microsoft Office 2007
Fluency in the language of your local market as well as English (both written and verbal)
