Position profile
In this newly created Montreal-based position, you would play a key role in developing and implementing HR strategies, programs and initiatives for all of Eastern Canada (from Ajax, ON eastwards) to engage employees, attract and retain quality talent at all levels and strengthen the company's reputation as an employer of choice.

As this role supports operations in multiple provinces, it will be essential that you have a solid understanding of regional trends and how to adhere to provincial employment legislation (especially in Quebec).

Responsibilities include
• Reporting to the Director of HR (Retail Operations), you will support 2 Regional Vice Presidents and 16 District Managers with strategic and day-to-day HR activities impacting 160 retail branches (and growing);
• Leading and coaching a team of HR Consultants and Regional Operational Trainers to drive successful planning, development, communication, implementation and maintenance of HR processes, initiatives and programs;
• Monitoring, measuring and reporting on HR-related performance for continuous improvement;
• Identifying and implementing formal and informal training programs to develop skills and talent;
• Recommending and implementing strategies to increase employee engagement and reduce retail turnover;
• Playing a key role in planning and ensuring smooth transitions after business acquisitions;
• Ensuring compliance with established internal and external HR requirements, including relevant provincial legislation requirements and French language compliance;
• Participating in quarterly District Manager meetings and supporting District Managers in all HR needs;
• Developing and maintaining an understanding of local markets in order to tailor and roll-out corporate initiatives for maximum impact in different regions;
• Building and managing internal customer relationships and effective employee relations.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Fluently bilingual in both French and English (oral and written) with the ability to ensure that the company meets all requirements of the Office québécois de la langue française;
• Bachelor degree (preferably in HR, Business Management or other related discipline);
• Minimum of 5 years of proven success as an HR Generalist in a multi-unit environment;
• Minimum 2 years in an HR management role (retail experience is a definite asset);
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, motivational, team building and project management skills;
• Energy, enthusiasm, personality, entrepreneurial spirit and a great work ethic.
