Production and Editorial Manager (Old Port, Montreal, QC)

CMS World Media, a custom publishing firm, is seeking a full time production and editorial manager to begin immediately. The manager will supervise the production of a variety of projects, and must possess strong attention detail, superior organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work efficiently in order to meet tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to liaise effectively with writers, designers, the sales team, print vendors and clients.
• Excellent computer skills, comfortable in a Mac environment, and able to use programs such as Adobe InDesign, Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in an organized manner, and to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work under pressure in any job-related situation efficiently and effectively with the proven ability to meet deadlines and handle deadline pressures.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
• Managing the day-to-day workflow of various publications.
• Review and oversee writers and designers, and provide them with the required support to maintain and attain optimum performance.
• Produce pagination, which maintains edit/ad ratios and make the best use of the most cost efficient combination of signatures.
• Develop the editorial direction for each publication, and maintain editorial integrity.
• Writing articles, headlines and additional copy as needed.
Qualifications:
• Flawless English and a strong command of grammar and editing.
• Familiarity with design software applications and project management experience is required.
Assets
• BA degree (ideally in journalism or a related field) and professional publishing courses are a plus.
• Fluent in French.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Portfolio of design and/or writing projects.
