Insurance Analyst (Montreal)

Our client is the leading international financial services company for over a century. They are currently seeking an Insurance Analyst.
Responsibilities:
• Work with internal partners to properly interpret signed reinsurance treaties and amendments.
• Determine administrative and accounting models for new and amended arrangements and work with team members to implement the required processes.
• Ensure strong financial and operational controls are built and implemented to accommodate all arrangements.
• Validate that the administration and accounting of the arrangement is meeting legal obligations of the treaty and the expectations of the reinsurer and internal stakeholders.
• Process complex settlements and review settlements prepared by other staff.
• Support various statutory reporting and audit requests.
• Develop, document, and maintain team policies, practices and procedures, in partnership with the Manager, Reinsurance Operations.
• Identify and implement process enhancements to increase team efficiency and improve customer experience of internal partners.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and reinsurers to successfully lead or represent the team in projects and initiatives.
• Define and/or fully analyze the initiative and its potential impacts to the team and our stakeholders.
• Develop and/or sign off on business requirements.
Requirements
• University degree in Accounting or related area of study with minimum three years work experience in the Financial Services industry.
• Knowledge and application of accounting principles, standards, and financial controls.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, including excellent knowledge of Excel.
• Experience supporting monthly financial closings and reconciliations.
• Strong planning and organizational capabilities, including the ability to coordinate a large, diverse group of individuals in the completion of a common deliverable.
• Track record in leading or supporting the improvement of processes and controls.
• Excellent verbal communication, bilingualism required (English & French).
Assets
• Accounting designation or working toward (CGA, CMA or CA).
• Knowledge of reinsurance treaties and administration.
• Experience within an audit or compliance environment.
• Knowledge of Group Benefit products and services.
