City Dispatcher – Evening Shift (1pm-10pm) West Island
The primary role of the City Dispatcher is to complete the dispatching processes according to customer expectations to ensure that their needs are met or exceeded in a timely fashion, within the city.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyze booking information from Customer Service in order to determine and verify the service requirements.
• Understand the wide array of carriers that are available and their capabilities in order to match them to the customers’ needs.
• Contact carriers in order to negotiate needed equipment and expectations.
• Dispatch shipments.
• Optimize Wheels profit margin as much as possible without compromising service.
• Build strong relationships with the carriers assigned through communication and ongoing monitoring of on time performance.
• Problem resolution with Tracking and Tracing and/or Customer Service when required.
• Timely and accurate completion of performance reports for all carrier related issues and notify potential problems to the appropriate parties.
• Negotiate any additional charges with carriers and assist to maintain the accuracy of the carrier information.
• Utilize all available tools to assist in load coverage.
• Understand current industry market conditions and communicate any carrier issues that might impact operations as a whole with the entire team.
• Assist Carrier Development by providing new carrier information package and relaying this information to the Carrier Compliance Coordinator.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• High School diploma.
• Diploma in Logistics or International Trade is an asset.
• Possess a minimum of 1-3 years experience dispatch environment.
• Bilingual (French) a definite asset.
• Competent PC skills - Microsoft Office, e-mail and Internet usage.
• Positive and proactive team player.
• Proven commitment to providing superior, timely internal and external customer service.
• Superior communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills.
• Strong knowledge of Quebec geography.
